For the first time since 1998, FSU defeated ACC No. 3 Georgia Tech at home in a thrilling five game match. The Yellow Jackets won the first match between the teams in a 3-0 contest in September. After dropping the first two games to the Yellow Jackets, the Lady Seminoles made a brilliant comeback and won three games to take the match (25-30, 21-30, 30-24, 30-26, 15-12). With the win, Florida State improves to 12-9 on the season, and 8-4 in the ACC, while extending their win streak to six. Georgia Tech's season record falls to 14-6 and 8-4 in the ACC.
Norisha Campbell led the Seminoles with a match-high 22 kills and 45 total attacks in the victory. Junior Alex Sevillano added her second straight double-double performance with 12 kills and 10 digs. Junior Erica Bunch added 12 kills, while junior outside hitter Kristin Frye had eight kills and 12 digs in the Lady Seminole win.
"They defeated us in three when we played at Tech, so the win today feels great," said head coach Cecile Reynaud. "We played this match with a lot of heart and a lot of discipline. Teamwork was an important element in this win today."
Georgia Tech outside hitter Maja Pachale led the Yellow Jackets with 19 kills and 45 attacks, while her teammates Alexandra Preiss and Kyleen Bell added 17 and 14 kills, respectively.
The Seminoles travel to ACC No. 2 Duke to face the Blue Devils Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. The Blue Devils come into the match 18-4 on the season, 10-4 in the ACC.
