Oct. 31, 2007
Tallahassee, Fla. - Want to take your soccer game to the next level? How would you like to learn from the nation's elite college coaching staff? Then the Mark Krikorian Soccer Academy at Florida State University is where you need to be.
Boys and girls, ages 5-18, can take advantage of three separate camps offered in 2008 including a two-day winter academy and two, four-day summer sessions in June. FSU will also offer a five-day elite residential camp and a five-day team residential camp in July for boys and girls, ages 11-18.
Campers will be given an unforgettable soccer experience as they learn from a coaching staff with years of professional, international and college experience as well as from the top collegiate players at Florida State.
The camp will be under the direction of the 2002 WUSA Coach of the Year and 2005 Soccer America Coach of the Year Mark Krikorian. In his first two seasons at the helm of the FSU Women's Soccer team, Krikorian guided the Seminoles to back-to-back College Cup appearances in 2005 and 2006. Florida State is one of two schools in Division I to advance to the national semifinals in three of the last four years. Joining Krikorian at this year's camp will be assistant coaches Eric Bell (2nd Season at FSU) and Paul Rogers (1st season at FSU), volunteer assistant coach Miranda Armstrong (1st season at FSU), graduate manager JP Barbosa (2nd season at FSU) and a list of Seminole players.
The primary focus of these camps will be on the technical application of the sport with dedicated training in specific areas including passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting techniques and team tactics. Goalkeepers will also receive daily specialized training where they will learn the proper techniques of the position by the FSU goalkeeping coach.
Day camps will be offered during both the winter and selected summer sessions. Day camps begin at 9 am and run until 12 noon. The winter academy will be held January 2-3, 2008 as campers can attend for $80 per player. The first summer day camp will kickoff the week of June 2-5 with the second camp running June 9-12. The cost for both summer day camps is $225 per player.
The elite residential camp is offered July 19-23, 2008 with costs at $595 per player. The Mark Krikorian Soccer Academy will conclude its summer camp session with the team residential camp the week of July 23-27, 2008. Cost is $550 per player with a max set at 18 players per team.
It is Florida State's goal that every player leaves camp with a feeling of accomplishment, a better understanding of the game and an intensified passion for soccer.
