Athens, Ga. - The Florida State Seminoles opened its spring soccer season on Saturday, February 23 posting a scoreless draw over the Georgia Bulldogs on a wet afternoon at the UGA Soccer Stadium. In the first spring action for both teams, the game featured three 30 minute periods.
Georgia finished the game out shooting FSU 7-2, while also maintaining the edge in corner kicks with a 5-2 advantage. The Bulldogs committed four fouls to the Seminoles two.
The game featured live action for a trio of Seminoles for the first time in their collegiate career as redshirt freshman Jessica Price and first-year freshmen Ella Stephan and Julie Lancos stepped on the pitch donning the Garnet and Gold. All three goalkeepers saw action in net with Erin McNulty, Kate Milstead and Kimmy Diaz.
Florida State's best scoring chance in the game came in the third 30 minute period off a header from sophomore Becky Edwards. After an FSU corner kick was played all the way through the penalty box, the ball was lofted back across to the far post, where Edwards met the ball and just missed on a scoring chance as the ball sailed just high over the crossbar.
The Seminoles will return to the pitch this Saturday, March 1 when Florida State travels to face Auburn at 2:00 pm (CST)
