Florida State Volleyball Falls In ACC Play At Georgia Tech, 3-2

ATLANTA, Ga. - Florida State and Georgia Tech battled it out in Atlanta, Ga. Sunday, October 6th. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Seminoles could not pull out the victory as they fell by a score of 3-2 (23-30, 18-30, 31-29, 32-30, 12-15). With the loss the Tribe falls to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Georgia Tech improves to 18-3, 4-1 in ACC.

Senior opposite Kristin Frye led the team, as she recorded a career-high 22 kills on 48 attacks for a hitting percentage of .250 and she also had 11 digs. Outside hitter Alex Sevillano recorded another double double for the Seminoles as she had 10 kills and 12 digs. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson led the team in assists with 68. Anderson also tallied 12 digs for Florida State.

Florida State and Georgia Tech battled to start game one as the score was tied or within one point for most of the game. At the midway point of the game, it was Georgia Tech that had the lead at 15-13 over the Seminoles. After the Tech took a seven point lead late in the game, the Tribe went on a run of their own to cut the lead to four, but it wasn't enough as the Yellow Jackets defeated Florida State 30-23.

The Ramblin' Wreck jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the second game of the match. Florida State could not come back as Georgia Tech continued to widen the margin and led by seven halfway into game two. The Yellow Jackets went on an 11-5 run and led 26-13 late in the game. The Seminoles could not come back, as they fell by a score of 30-18.

Florida State and Georgia Tech started game in much the same fashion as game one. The score went back and fourth for much of the game. The Seminoles led at the midway point of the match, 15-13. The Yellow Jackets did fight back and led by as much as three. The Tribe came from behind and defeated the Ramblin' Wreck by a score of 31-29.

The Seminoles led for most of the fourth game, but the Jackets came back and led by a score of 15-13 halfway into the game. The Tribe was determined not to lose and fought from behind to hold the score within two points. Florida State had a chance to win the game at 29-28, but the Yellow Jackets wouldn't allow it. The Seminoles defeated Tech in game four by a score off 32-30.

The Tribe scored the first point of game five, but Georgia Tech was not going to give in, as the Yellow Jackets continued to fight and took a 7-4 lead. With momentum on their side, the Ramblin' Wreck defeated the Seminoles by a score of 15-12.

Florida State has a week off before they host the Maryland Terrapins and Virginia Cavaliers. The matches are scheduled to be played on October 11-12 at 7:00 p.m.
