FSU Volleyball Prepares For Weekend Action at Lucy McDaniel Arena at Tully Gym

The Florida State Lady Seminoles (2-6, 1-1) are currently preparing for upcoming weekend action to be held at the friendly confines of Tully Gym against ACC opponent Maryland (4-6, 1-2) on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Virginia (5-5, 1-2) on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1:00 p.m. The game vs. Virginia will be broadcast live on Sunshine Network.
Leading the way in kills for the Seminoles is senior Norisha Campbell with 143 and 4.61 per game. Florida State sophomore Jennifer Anderson currently leads the 'Noles with 387 set assists, while junior Kristin Frye leads the squad in service aces with 16 as well as digs with 103. The Lady 'Noles lead their opponents in blocks, digs and total attacks. Dawn Hough was the team leader in blocks (33) before falling to injury. After missing two matches Hough stands in second for the Tribe by only one block short of Norisha Campbell's 34.
Maryland enters action following a win over Virginia 3-2. The Terrapins are led in kills by sophomore Maria Dilivio who has 130 while averaging 3.61 kills per game for the Terps. Amanda Ayres leads the Maryland squad in two categories, with 20 service aces through the team's last 10 games as well as 27 total blocks. Maryland stands tied with all opponents at 515 digs with Terrapin junior Carey Brennan leading the way with 97.
The Virginia Cavaliers will enter Sunday's match up following their loss to Maryland. Sophomores lead the way for Virginia as standout Paige Davis currently leads the Cavaliers in four categories: kills (95), total attacks (269), service aces (12) and digs (83), while sophomore setter Abby Whittenberg has tallied 235 set assists on the season and sophomore Shannon Boyle has notched six block solos.
Back Track: Florida State's last competition with both Maryland and Virginia ended in victory. The Lady Seminoles won in five against Virginia last October, and later shutout Maryland, one of 11 FSU shutouts of the 2000 season.
