Five Seminoles Named To The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Volleyball Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - As part of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Golden Anniversary celebration, Commissioner John Swofford announced the 50th Anniversary Volleyball Team on Thursday, August 1st and Florida State, the league's youngest member, was well represented. Five former Seminoles, including standouts Fiona Bolten, Norisha Campbell, Luiza Ramos, Holly Schneider and Aisha Thornton, were among those named to 53-member squad.
Bolten competed for the Seminoles from 1997-98. She was named to the All-ACC first team in 1998 and second team in 1997. Bolten earned AVCA All-South Region honors in both 1997 and 1998. She currently holds the FSU single-season record for assists with 1,744 and is in second place all-time with 2,979 career assists. Bolten led the ACC in assists per game with 12.86 in 1997 and again in 1998 with a 14.18 per game average. She captured ACC All-Tournament Most Valuable Player honors in 1998 as she helped guide the Seminoles to their first ACC Championship title.
Campbell, a two-time All-ACC first team and AVCA East Region team selection, played for the Seminoles from 1998-2001. Campbell led the ACC with a .366 hitting percentage in 2001. After helping the Florida State advance to the championship game of the ACC Tournament, Campbell received ACC All-Tournament Team honors. At FSU, Campbell ranks third all-time with a .331 hitting percentage, seventh in kills with 1,319, eighth in solo blocks with 90, seventh in block assists with 278 and ninth in total blocks with 368.
Ramos, who competed for the Seminoles from 1991-94, earned all-ACC first team honors in 1993 and 1994 and second team honors in 1992. She was named to the AVCA All-South Region team from 1992-94. Ramos was part of the ACC All-Tournament team from 1992-94. She led the ACC in kills per game with 4.73 and aces per game with 0.43 in 1994. Ramos is the all-time leader at FSU in digs with 1,771 and second in kills with 1,847 and service aces with 183.
Schneider competed for the Seminoles from 1995-98. She was named to the All-ACC second team in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, Schneider garnered AVCA All-South Region team honors. Schneider was named to the ACC All-Tournament team three consecutive years and finished her career at FSU ranked second in both digs with 1,426 and kill attempts with 4,615 and third in kills with 1,704. During her four-year career, Schneider saw action in every match.
Thornton, an All-ACC first-team selection in 1998, competed for Florida State from 1996-99. Thornton earned AVCA All-Region honors in 1998. She led the ACC with a .366 hitting percentage in 1997 and a .352 percentage in 1998. At Florida State, Thornton ranks second all-time in hitting percentage with .332, sixth in kills with 1,420, third in solo blocks with 147, fifth in block assists with 329 and seventh in total blocks with 476.
