TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  - The No. 16-ranked Florida State men's tennis team will begin postseason play on Friday, April 17 at 9:00 a.m., at the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

" We always base our year on how we perform during the postseason," FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist said." "We're excited about getting started and we've been playing good tennis the second half of this season."

The Seminoles (18-7, 8-2) earned a first round bye and will face the winner of Thursday's match between No. 5-seed Duke and 12th-seeded Boston College.  FSU owns a 3-0 combined record against the Blue Devils and Eagles.  The Garnet and Gold defeated Duke 5-0 at the ITA National Indoor Kickoff Weekend and beat them again in Durham, N.C., during conference play.  Florida State earned a 7-0 victory against Boston College this past Sunday.  If the Seminoles win on Friday they will play in the semifinals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

"We're confident, but we know that whoever we play is good," Hultquist said.  "We've played a lot of tight matches with Duke and we've had a good rivalry with them.  It will be a challenging match and the scores will be close."

Florida State holds a 14-17 all-time record at the ACC Tournament and although the Noles have yet to win an ACC title, the men made the finals of the championships in 2005.  Last season the Seminole's defeated Duke 4-0 in the second round before bowing out to Miami 4-3 in the semifinals.

"I think we've prepared by having short, intense practices," Hultquist said.  "Our guys are fresh and ahead in their school work and those things help as well."
