Florida State Volleyball Defeats Florida International, 3-2

MIAMI, Fla. - Florida State defeated the Golden Panthers of Florida International by a score of 3-2 (30-18, 30-26, 32-34, 28-30, 15-13) Friday, September 13th, at the Florida International Tournament in Miami, Fla. The Seminoles were led by seniors Alex Sevillano and Erica Bunch. With the win, Florida State improves to 4-3 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 4-5.
In the match, Sevillano recoded her second double-double of the day as she had 15 kills and 10 digs. Bunch turned in a strong performance for the Seminoles as she tallied 14 kills on 30 attacks for a hitting percentage of .300. Senior middle hitter Dawn Hough led Florida State in hitting percentage as she hit .381 against FIU. Kristin Frye contributed to the Seminole effort with 12 kills and eight digs. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson performed well as she notched 52 assists.
Leading the way for Florida International was Adriana Fundora as she recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs. Oksana Zablueva contributed to the Golden Panther effort as she tallied 15 kills on 33 attacks with three errors for a hitting percentage of .364. Jennifer Owens notched 15 kills on 31 attacks and seven errors for a hitting percentage of .258.
Florida State will return to action Saturday, September 14th, when the Seminoles take on the Jaguars of IUPUI. The match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. at Golden Panther Arena.
