FSU head coach Mark Krikorian

On overall performance...
"Our team came out and played hard. We played against a hard-working Mississippi Valley State team. I was satisfied with our performance. Sometimes when you get in to the NCAA Tournament, you play teams that you don't know so much about, and that was the case here with MVSU. But I have a lot of respect for them and the effort they put in today but we are happy with our kids."

Sophomore forward Sanna Talonen

On the weather conditions...
"It was fun. You could see the ball splashing as we passed it, but the field was really fast."

On scoring two goals in the game...
"The conditions made it harder to get the ball downfield, so, we knew we had to go after everything. It was really important for us to get a couple of goals early on. I was happy with the way we came out early."

Freshman defender Julie Lancos

On the early lead...
"Right before I went in coach just told me to enjoy playing with my teammates, so that's what I did. We played well today. MVSU played well. They wished us luck at the end of the game and just told us to 'go get them' and told us that this was our year, so it was kind of nice."

On assist to Sanna Talonen for the third goal...
"They kicked the ball out and I was looking up. Everyone was already in the box and I was able to make a good pass and she kicked it in."

On scoring first goal of the season...
"The defense was caught a little bit off guard so I just played it back and it was slippery most of the game so anything can happen."

MVSU head coach Dean Joseph

On overall performance...
"I thought our team fought really hard. Obviously (FSU) is a very good team, that's why they are one of the top teams in the country. This is our second appearance in the tournament and I think we made some good improvements."

On improvement made...
"We have made great strides throughout the season. Playing such a good team as FSU, they are going to pick up on your mistakes and they put you under pressure. So, those are the things we have to continue to work on. We are going to continue to play teams that challenge us in that way so if we get to the tournament again and meet teams like this one, we will be able to deal with some of those things better."

Senior defender Ashley Bailey

On team's overall performance...
"Coming into the season one of our main goals was to win our conference and we were able to do that. We are really just happy to be here. This is just an added bonus for us. We got to come in here and see some amazing players and we really just got to enjoy the experience. And we learned a lot from it."

On playing one of the top teams in the country...
"It was definitely a little intimidating. You hear about these players on TV and on the radio and things and it can get to you a little bit. But we realized that they are just average girls like we are. They eat and sleep like us. We just came in to enjoy it and do our best. We're not worried about results, we just came in to have a good time."
