Seminoles Conclude Day One of FSU Relays

Tallahassee, Fla. - 24 teams have traveled from across the country for the 2005 FSU Relays, that began today, Wednesday, March 16, at the Mike Long Track and Field Complex. After day one, freshman Matt Frith (Jacksonville, Fla./Bolles) was the only Seminole in action, competing in the first events of the men's decathlon.
Despite continuous rain all day, Frith finished fourth in the 100m dash in 11.64. He took third in the high jump portion of the decathlon event with a mark of 5'8.75 (1.75m). In the shot put event, the Jacksonville, Fla., native was fourth with a throw of 36'7.5" (11.16m).
The Seminoles begin again tomorrow with the conclusion of the heptathlon and decathlon events. The field and running events are scheduled for Thursday, beginning with the garnet section of the hammer throw at 9:00 a.m. and the 5000m race beginning at 7:30 p.m.
