Tallahassee, Fla. - Freshman Walter Dix was named Male Athlete of the Week by the United States Track Coaches Association after a three-event performance at the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. The award is for the week of February 14-20, 2005.

Dix took individual championships in the 60m and 200m events and ran the third leg of the team-title clinching 4x400m relay to help FSU defend its indoor championship. The rookie from Coral Springs, Fla., became the first freshman in Florida State school history to win two indoor individual titles and only the second person overall to win multiple indoor events in a single season. Dix is currently ranked fifth in the nation in the 60m, boasting a time of 6.66, and the 200m, which he holds an FSU-school record mark of 20.73.

The Seminoles have a break before returning to the track for the Iowa State Indoor Last Chance Meet and the USA Indoor Championship on March 5.
