Tallahassee, Fla. - Soccer Buzz announced the finalists for Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors as released on Monday, December 4. Florida State was one of three schools in the nation to have at least three student-athletes in the running for the two awards combined. Junior Mami Yamaguchi was nominated for National Player of the Year accolades, while Amanda DaCosta and Sanna Talonen were named finalists for Freshman of the Year honors.

Yamaguchi, the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, is the only player in the nation that ranks in the top 10 in three major offensive categories including points, goals and assists per game. She became the single-season record holder for points (63), goals (23) and assists (17), while setting the school record with 15 points in league play. The Tokyo, Japan is the first Seminole in school history to record double-digit goals and assists in a single-season.

Sanna Talonen set the school record for points and goals in a single-season by a freshman.

DaCosta was named to the All-ACC second team, while earning a spot on the All-ACC Freshmen team in 2007. She joins fellow teammate Erin McNulty as the only two freshmen to start every game for the Seminoles in 2007. The Katonah, N.Y., native currently sits in a tie for third on the team with 18 points (5 goals, 8 assists). Her eight assists is tied for second all-time among Seminole freshmen.

In her first season with the Seminoles, Talonen ranks second on the in points (39) and goals scored (17) and tied for fourth on the team in assists with five. She leads the team with six game-winning goals as three have come in the NCAA Tournament. Talonen, a native of Tampere, Finland, set the single-season record for goals in the NCAA Tournament with seven through the first four rounds.
