TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – A two-time All-ACC member for her talents on the field, Victoria East received an accolade for her efforts off the field as the National Strength and Conditioning Association named her a 2014 NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year. East joins Carly Wynn (2010) as Seminoles who have won the award.

“It is great to highlight someone like Victoria on a national level because she loves her time in the weight room and is very consistent, hardworking and successful when you look at how strong she is,” said strength and conditioning coach Caitlin Quinn. “Also, this award isn’t just about strength, but speed is also a factor. I am very proud of her and excited that she received this award.”

The All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award program recognizes those collegiate and high school athletes, whose athletic accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning.

There are several drills and exercises used in submitting a student-athlete for this award, including a 10-yard and 20-yard dash, Pro-Agility drill, vertical jump, power clean and back squat, among others.

East had a solid 2014 season for the Seminoles as she recorded a .264 batting average, four home runs, 31 RBI, 31 runs scored and 47 hits. She was named to the All-ACC Third Team by posting a .342 average in ACC play, along with 12 extra-base hits and 21 RBI against conference foes.

The Pensacola, Fla., native finished with 12 total doubles which tied for the second-most on the team. Two of those doubles, one in the seventh inning and one in the ninth, were key in FSU’s extra-inning come-from-behind win in the second game of a doubleheader at Notre Dame on April 13 as the Noles defeated the Irish, 9-7.
