2014: Made 12 appearances, all in relief, closing out his senior season with a 3.31 ERA and one save…tallied 16.1 innings of work recording 11 strikeouts while walking just four…made his season debut in the season opener against Niagara (2/14), allowing a hit and a walk in an inning of work…struck out a career-high four batters and tied a career-high with 3.0 innings pitched against Boston College (3/29) in Rhode Island…picked up his first career save in that game against the Eagles…threw 2.2 innings at Georgia Tech giving up an earned run while allowing a career-high six hits…record multiple strikeouts at UCF (2), at Boston College (2) and against Georgia Southern (2) in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional…worked 2.2 innings in relief against the Eagles in the regional tournament…finished his Seminole career with a 2-1 record, one save and an ERA of 3.98 in 46 relief appearances…struck out 34 in 54.1 innings of work.
2013: Appeared in 15 games – all in relief – posting a 1-1 record with a 3.98 ERA in 20.1 innings of work…registered 13 strikeouts and eight walks while holding opponents to a .291 batting average on the year…threw a career-high 3.0 scoreless innings in the second game of the season against Rhode Island (2/16) to earn the win - gave up just one hit and one walk while striking out one…worked multiple innings in relief six times including in his first three outings out of the bullpen…opened the season not allowing an earned run in his first four appearances – a span covering 8.2 innings…tied a career-high with two strikeouts on four separate occasions…eight of his 13 strikeouts came against ACC competition as he struck out two against Georgia Tech twice (3/22 & 3/24) and at Virginia Tech (3/30)…threw 1.2 scoreless innings against the Yellow Jackets in two relief appearances allowing just one hit and no walks with four strikeouts…suffered his lone loss of the season at Maryland (3/15) giving up a run on one hit in 0.1 inning…threw 1.2 innings in the NCAA Tournament Regional opener against Savannah State (5/31) – allowed three hits and a walk but did not give up a run…played over the summer with the Alexandria Blue Anchors of the Northwoods League – went 1-0 with three saves and a 2.04 ERA in 17 games with 15 strikeouts in 22 innings of work.
2012: Made 16 appearances and was a reliable left handed option out of the Seminole bullpen…went 1-0 with a 2.87 ERA in 15.2 innings of work…recorded nine strikeouts and just two walks while holding opponents to a .189 average…worked at least 1.0 inning in 13 outings…threw a career-high 2.0 innings against NC State on May 17…earned his first career win after 1.1 innings of work against Stetson (3/20)…made his season debut in the series finale against Hofstra (2/19) on opening weekend…followed with a perfect ninth in facing the minimum in game 1 vs. FIU (2/24)…pitched 1.1 scoreless innings against Virginia in the ACC Tournament – allowed a hit and struck out one…recorded a career-high two strikeouts in an inning of work against Stanford in game one of the Tallahassee Super Regional…made two appearances at the College World Series pitching against Stony Brook and in the second game against Arizona…worked a scoreless inning against the Seawolves…played summer ball with the Alexandria Beetles of the Northwoods League.
2011: Appeared in three games in his first season at Florida State working a combined 2.0 innings over that span…made his collegiate debut in the middle game against Hofstra…threw a scoreless inning in relief as he issued a walk…pitched at Georgia and against Maine…registered his first collegiate strikeout against the Black Bears.
HIGH SCHOOL: Distinguished himself on and off the field in high school…went 5-1 on the mound as a senior with a 1.52 ERA, helping Alonso reach the 6A semifinals…also batted .286 with three homers while playing first base…earned second team all-conference honors and was named to the Saladino All-Tournament team as a senior…helped his team to the 6A state championship as a junior…went to camp with the 16U USA Team as a sophomore in 2008…outstanding student who won the 2010 Chick-fil-A/Dick’s Sporting Goods Scholar Athlete of the Year award…graduated in the top five percent of his class with a weighted 5.8 GPA…a member of the National Honor Society and a senior class officer…also earned Alonso Scholar Athlete of the Year awards in 2007 and 2008.
PERSONAL: Son of Sherman, Sr. and Brenda Johnson…brother Sherman, Jr. was the Seminoles’ starting third baseman (2010-12) and was drafted in the 14th round by the LA Angels…also has a sister Kiara…earned a bachelor of science degree in computational science in the spring of 2013…currently pursuing a masters’ degree in computational science…born March 18, 1992.
