Zach Barge, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic services staff in May 2014, as an intern.

Barge attended Northern Kentucky University from 2006 to 2011 and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology. During his undergraduate education, Zach worked as a high school wrestling coach in Cincinnati. Zach then went to Xavier University and received a M.Ed in Sport Administration in 2014. There he worked as a graduate intern for Xavier's Student-Athlete Academic Support Services office. At Xavier, Zach was responsible for tracking student-athletes' study hours and reporting that information to coaches and staff. Zach was also tasked with coordinating Xavier's pen-pal program which paired student-athletes with students from a local elementary school. Zach also helped with Xavier Pro Series, which is professional development programming for their student-athletes, by tracking their event attendance; Barge also co-hosted an event for senior student-athletes titled, "Campus to Career," which gave information student-athletes can use to help gain employment post-graduation.
